Puget Sound Energy is currently working on Energize Eastside – a project to build a new electric substation and higher capacity transmission lines to serve homes and businesses on the Eastside. This effort will upgrade the existing transmission system and provide more dependable power for all Eastside communities for many years to come.
A sizeable project such as this doesn’t come without some controversy and at least questions from concerned residents and businesses whose property may be affected by new or changing power lines. Puget Sound Energy has been hosting Community Advisory Group Meetings the past few months and has another planned in Bellevue on Wednesday, October 1st from 6:30-8:30 at the Red Lion Hotel Bellevue. Please consider attending this meeting to learn more and get involved.
The Bridle Trails neighborhood is one that could potentially be affected by this project. They will be discussing the project at their community meeting this Thursday evening, October 2nd at Cherry Crest Elementary beginning at 7pm.
Please take a minute to review the Puget Sound Energy Energize Eastside website to learn more about the project. The site includes good information about the growth and energy needs in our area as well as potential routes for these new transmission lines and even photo simulations.
While aftershocks rattle the Napa Valley area following the 6.0 earthquake that shook Northern California this past weekend, we here in the Pacific Northwest should take a minute to reflect about how prepared we are for the next quake (or other natural disaster) that could happen here.
Follow this link to review the American Red Cross Disaster Kit Supply List. So many of us have our kits in the garage or car, but how many of those kits have expired batteries, old water or out of date documents in them? In addition to your disaster kit, it’s always a good idea to have a disaster plan for your family. You can view the Red Cross Disaster Preparedness Family Plan here.
